Chuck Day

Phenomenal southpaw guitarist and baritone bluesman Chuck Day hails from South Side Chicago. He started playing and singing at 3 and, at age 15, recorded Ponytail Partner in 1957. He left for California in 1965 and began a remarkable career as one of the most listened to "unknown" artists in Rock and Roll.

Landing in Los Angeles he immediately became bassist with Johnny Rivers, recording, touring and helping to create Rivers' signature sound. It was Chuck who came up with "The Riff" in "Secret Agent Man" and, with drummer Micky Jones, drove the rhythm to the top of the charts.

Chuck joined The Mama's and the Papa's in 1967, again as bassist, and again showing his talents as guitarist on "Monday, Monday".

During the '70s and '80s Chuck played on numerous recordings including Shel Silverstein's "Freaker's Ball," wrote for the sound track of "Fritz the Cat" and performed with legendary musicians Luther Tucker, Merle Saunders and many others before forming his own band in 1986.

Chuck's impeccable rhythm gives every tune some funk and his most furious solos a solid pulse. His style is made of sweet melodies, hard driving rhythms and fantastic, soaring arpeggios. As he puts it, "Pretty, yet somehow dirty." His sonorous voice is powerful and sensuous, lending ballads a smooth, soulful grace; Rocking' tunes have him on par with the best Blues-Shouters. Chuck's jaw-dropping performances astound audiences of all musical persuasions and dancing is required.
